Summary

Job title: Personal Assistant
Location: Pontrhydygroes
Hours of work: Up to 15 hours per week to be worked flexibly in line with the needs of the employer.
Rate of pay £12.00 per hour.

Introduction:
A Personal Assistant is required to support a gentleman in his own home.
This role will provide both respite for the primary carer and companionship for the gentleman in their absence.
As PA you will be required to provide company for the employer, engaging in conversation, helping to maintain social interactions. An interest in films, tv and literature would be beneficial.
You will help the employer access and engage with their chosen activities.
As part of the role, you may be required to perform some light domestic tasks such as making tea & coffee, including snacks.
Being a Welsh speaker would be beneficial but is not essential.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable the individual to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available.

Main Duties:
• Provide respite for the primary carer.
• Provide companionship.
• Engage with conversation.
• Help maintain social engagement.
• Assist with light refreshments.
• Assist accessing and engaging in their chosen activities.
• Ensure the service users safety at all times during your working period.
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.

• A good sense of humour
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Punctual and reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.
• An interest in TV, films and literature.
• Welsh speaking is desirable but not essential.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
