Summary

CASUAL DRIVER

Variable hours – Hourly Paid

Grade 2: £11.44 per hour + £1.38 holiday pay per hour

Who we’re looking for:

Casual drivers to provide safe, reliable and user-friendly transport to support staff, students and visitors to the University.

Things to consider:

• You should hold a UK Driving license with category D1, and no more than 6 points.

• Professional driving experience is not essential.

• Flexibility around requests which are sometimes made or amended at short notice.

• The role includes evening & weekend working, early starts and late finishing times.

• The role will predominantly be during term time with occasional hours available during holidays.

What you’d be doing:

• Mainly driving minibuses with up to 16 passengers but sometimes vans for loading/unloading or smaller vehicles to escort VIP guests.

• Driving longer distances for sports fixtures at other Universities, or course residential trips.

• Driving within local areas for course excursions or during open days.

• Ensuring road safety and safety of passengers.

• Carrying out vehicle safety checks.

You’ll need to enjoy:

• Driving! You will often drive long journeys and cover great distances.

• Building rapport: You’ll be engaging with passengers to ensure their comfort & safety, as well as providing friendly and professional service.

Where you’ll work:

In this role, you’ll be part of the Welcome Team, on our campus in the north of Plymouth, but the role will entail travelling off-site. To be successful in this role, you will be required to attend main campus and be willing to travel great distances from campus.
