Summary

Job title: Personal Assistant
Location: Plwmp
Hours of work: Up to 3 hour per week term time, 6 hours per week out of term plus 4 hours respite every two weeks. To be worked flexibly in line with the needs of the employer
Rate of pay £12 per hour

Introduction:
A personal assistant is required to support a family with socialisation and respite.
This role would ideally suit an individual with a childcare qualification or relevant experience.
The PA will accompany the family whilst they engage in social and physical activities. Assisting them with the care and supervision of one of the children, enabling the family to enjoy the activities.
As part of the role, you will be expected to assist a child if they become over stimulated or distressed, allowing the family to continue engagement in the activity.
In addition to these responsibilities the PA will be required to undertake fortnightly respite duties, caring for the children enabling the parents to have a break from their caring responsibilities.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable the individual to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available. You must have your own transport and a full driving licence as you will be required to transport them to and from venues.

Main Duties:
• To accompany the family to and from locations
• To provide support for the primary carers while engaged in activities
• To encourage engagement socially
• Be responsive and calming when required
• To provide assistance if the child becomes distressed
• Provide respite for the parents
• Ensure the service users safety at all times during your working period.
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.

• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Punctual and reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.
• Relevant childcare qualifications or work experience.

Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
