Summary


We currently have two Band 6 Orthoptist posts being advertised. This particular post is a fixed Term 12 month post to cover secondment for an existing Team member.

Orthoptists are an integral to the department as we move forward in advancing the role of Orthoptists. This is a Band 6 post, however, we will consider Band 5/6 based on experience. Newly qualified orthoptist applications will be considered with appropriate mentorship provided if selected.

We have 3 ambitious and enthusiastic Paediatric & Strabismus consultants and who are leading the way in Ophthalmology. They are hugely supportive of the Orthoptic team which is allowing us to strive to achieve more as a Team.

In the wider Ophthalmology Team, we have many other sub speciality Ophthalmology Consultants who work closely with Orthoptists in specialist clinics and extended roles. There will be opportunities for training in this.

Royal Free London Ophthalmology have 5 main Hospital sites. This post will be based at Barnet Hospital, Edgware Hospital & Chase Farm Hospital.

You will have opportunity to gain valuable experience in a well-supported environment, working with cases in the following: Paediatric strabismus, Neuro ophthalmology and Adult oculomotility.

You will also be working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team and will be involved in the relevant MDT meetings.

You will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance and audit activities within the team.

Applicants must have previous experience in Orthoptics, and have excellent communication and prioritisation skills and a commitment to continuing professional development.
