Summary

To contribute towards the provision of a high quality Urology Service in
conjunction with Clinical Nurse Specialists and the multi-disciplinary team.

As a urology nurse, the post holder will act as a resource to facilitate and coordinate the holistic care and treatment of patients referred to the urology service. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons, radiologists, radiographers, oncologists and pathologists.

The most important role of the urology nurse is to support, inform, advise, and act as a patient advocate for individuals diagnosed with urological disease and their families under supervision of the Clinical Nursing and Medical team.

The post holder would be expected to undertake further qualifications and training to achieve the competencies required of a trained urology nurse.

This is an exciting opportunity for a staff nurse to train as a Urology specialist nurse. You will work within a team of urology nurse specialists in a very busy Trust wide service.

The role would be suitable for an experienced registered nurse who has experience of working with patients undergoing surgery or cancer care and who require sensitive support.

This is a developmental role, with a view to gaining competencies and clinical responsibilities. A willingness to undertake and attain the relevant courses and skills is required.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.

We support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
