Summary

Neal Jones Furniture in Lancaster are recruiting for an Apprentice Bespoke Furniture Maker. The successful candidate will work towards their Level 2 Furniture Occupations which will take approximately 24 months to complete.

Duties:
• Reporting to the Workshop Manager, and working alongside the team of experienced and highly skilled Furniture Makers, and wider team such as Designers and Technical Draughts people.
• Learn the techniques and methods of making components and how to assemble furniture. Learning jointing methods, gluing-up, lamination, veneer and wood selection, material selection.
• Learn about prototyping, jigs and templates, incorporating work by others such as glass, metal, stone.
• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings to make furniture: tables, chairs, cabinets, for homes and Superyachts.
• Learning to work with accuracy and precision, whilst understanding high quality expectations need to be met.
• Will be taught how to use a variety of hand and power tools, as well as larger woodworking machines.
• Admin duties like ordering materials, glues, screws for the workshop. Stock keeping of materials used.

• Someone who has an interest in furniture, is detail focused and looks for perfection.

• Works well as part of a team
• Keen to learn.

Grades:
No formal qualifications required.

Hours:
Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm / 30 min lunch / 40 hours per week
