Summary


We are looking for individuals who have understanding of clinical governance, with experience or transferable skills to undertake the role. This is a part time position - 0.8 vacancy available so would be in a position to consider flexibility in working days.

The Division of Women and Children, including Safe Centre are seeking to recruit a Clinical Governance and Risk Facilitator to support the Divisional Clinical Governance Team with the management of the safety and quality processes related to incidents, risk and the wider governance agenda. The Division has a diverse service provision that includes Central Lancashire Breast Unit, Gynaecology including Safe Centre , Maternity, Neonatal Services and Acute and Community Paediatrics.

The Clinical Governance Team for Women and Children has a Divisional Governance Lead and Band 7 managers who will support you within your role and who are committed to working collaboratively in meeting the requirements of the governance agenda . You will be provided with mentorship and a structured preceptorship pack to support your transition into the team and role.

We understand the critical role that good clinical governance plays and we are committed to improving the safety, quality and effectiveness of the care we provide as well as improving the experience of all the patients that we see and treat within the Division of Women and Children.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, organised and dedicated individual to join the team to deliver the governance agenda.

You will co-ordinate the investigation and response to clinical incidents on behalf of the senior management team and ensure appropriate risk assessments are undertaken and acted upon by the clinical management team and clinical staff.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required to present reports and offer challenge where necessary. Excellent time management skills are required to manage a busy workload and a flexible approach will be required to meet the needs of the department.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential, to be able to deliver against key objectives, in a fast paced and ever changing environment. You will need to be an individual who enjoys collaborative working and is committed to continuous quality improvement and patient safety.

The role will be based at Royal Preston Hospital.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Computer literate, experience in using excel and be able to use pivot tables, manage heavy data and extracting information for reporting
• Facilitation skills, being able to work with heads of department and frontline staff and have excellent communication skills
• Datix Incident management - including allocation of incidents to the appropriate Datix Reviewer. This will include supporting all levels of investigation with collation of information to support the investigation reports
• Risk Register Management - supporting the process of risk review compliance and completion of actions
• Supporting the management of complaints processes working collaboratively with the services and Trust PALS team
• Co-ordinating the Agendas and documentation for Safety and Quality processes with minute taking, report collation and communication with the services
