Summary

Reablement Workers
Job description
Permanent, 25 hours per week.

Do you want to help people to gain more control over their lives? Do you enjoy working with a range of professionals and resources in developing peoples’ skills and confidence? If so, then becoming a Reablement Support Worker may be the post for you….

Rotherham Reablement Service works with people in the community to help them learn new skills or increase confidence in their daily activities. The people we see may have experienced a spell of ill health or change in their circumstances so need some short term support to allow them to return to previous levels of independence. The service differs from ‘traditional’ home care support in that the emphasis is on helping people to ‘do’ for themselves rather than having things done for them.

Reablement Support Workers see people in their own home and provide this direct support to them. This may include help with daily activities such as washing and dressing or getting a meal, but could also involve support to identify and join local community groups. The aim of the service is to promote the person’s overall wellbeing, providing every opportunity for people to lead happy, healthy and independent lives.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission with an overall ‘good’ rating but we are working towards achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating. The enthusiasm and commitment of our staff – hopefully including you! - should help us to achieve this in future.

We are looking to recruit Reablement Support Workers, working 25 hours per week. You will be provided with uniform and have use of an RMBC vehicle, potentially working across the whole of the Rotherham borough. Travel is an essential part of this job and although being a car user is not essential, the expectation would be that postholders can travel across the Rotherham Borough, within a reasonable timescale. The service operates from 7am until 10pm every day of the year so this role includes working shifts with a consistent rota.

The successful applicants will be joining a supportive and motivated team who value learning and work in close partnership with other professionals in the area. A full induction and training is provided as well as regular supervision and team meetings.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity before applying then please don’t hesitate in contacting Karen Duke ( Reablement Coordinator ) on 01709 255754 / 07748142992 or by emailing Karen.Duke@rotherham.gov.uk OR Sandra Hatfield on 07786 335914 or by emailing Sandra.hatfield@rotherham.gov.uk . We are looking forward to hearing from you.

These posts involve working with adults and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme and can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).

Confirmation of appointment is also subject to a medical assessment.

We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applications, so we advise you to submit your application early to avoid disappointment.
