Summary
In simple terms, an activities co-ordinator is someone who helps implement various activities in senior living facilities. Many people focus on the “care” aspect of a senior community without considering the importance of extracurricular activities. In truth, it’s these activities that stimulate residents the most. Activities can be spiritual, active, or creative in nature and cater to physical, mental, social, and emotional development.
Your role might include talking with people about the types of things they'd like to do, facilitating activities that are tailored to the needs and abilities of individuals, as well as group activities that will bring individuals together.
One to one interaction for example, chatting, reading the newspaper, reminiscing, manicures, playing cards or doing a jigsaw together.
