Job Summary:
As a domiciliary care worker, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to service users in their own homes. Your responsibilities will involve assisting service users with various aspects of daily living, promoting their independence, and ensuring their well-being and comfort. You will work closely with service users, their families, and healthcare professionals to deliver personalised care plans tailored to each service users needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing, while respecting the dignity and privacy of service users.
• Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals and assist service users with medication reminders to ensure compliance with treatment plans.
• Mobility Support: Assist service users with mobility needs, including transferring, positioning, and using mobility aids, to promote safety and prevent falls.
• Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring service users receive adequate nutrition and hydration.
• Household Tasks: Assist with light housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning, and tidying to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment for service users.
• Companionship: Engage in meaningful social interactions and provide companionship to clients, fostering emotional well-being and reducing feelings of isolation or loneliness.
• Emotional Support: Offer empathetic support and encouragement to service users, actively listening to their concerns and providing reassurance during challenging times.



• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of care provided, including observations, interventions, and any changes in service users condition, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Communication: Collaborate effectively with service users, their families, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans, address any concerns, and ensure continuity of care.
• Health Promotion: Promote healthy lifestyle choices and encourage service users to participate in recreational activities or exercises that enhance their physical and mental well-being.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Previous experience in a care-related role is desirable but not essential.
• Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in service users lives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with service users and their families.
• Reliable and responsible, capable of working independently and following care plans with attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices, infection control measures, and safeguarding procedures.
• Willingness to undergo relevant training and continuous professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in domiciliary care.
Working Conditions:
• Domiciliary care workers typically work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate service user needs.
• The role may involve traveling to service users homes within a designated geographical area, so access to reliable transportation is often required.
• Depending on the organisation or agency, domiciliary care workers may work on a full-time, part-time, or casual basis.
