Salary: £26,788 - £30,751 (plus additional working payments depending on shifts)
Hours: 36 per week

Skilled Roadworkers are key members of the Roads Operations Team. If you want to be able to say ‘I did that’, ‘I made a difference’ and ‘I made my mark', join our team and play a central role in leading and shaping the success of Roads Operations, delivering road and street maintenance and improvements and also keeping people moving safely about the City during Winter Weather.

Edinburgh is the UK’s most prosperous city outside of London and has been ranked as the top mid-sized city in Europe and been voted as the UK’s best for three years running. It is also home to the world’s biggest arts festival. It’s a fabulous city, which offers an excellent quality of life and opportunity.

We are looking for Skilled Roadworkers with surfacing and/or slabbing/kerbing experience in a roads environment to join our existing squads city-wide and ensure our streets are maintained to the highest standards. Successful applicants will have potential opportunity to increase earnings by working occasional overtime and winter maintenance.

Based at one of our 2 depots around the city, Roads Operations offers an environment in which workers are valued and respected with a key focus on training and development of our staff to ensure they can undertake multiple different roads operations and develop their skills base.

Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
