Summary

Job Description

To provide a care and protection service which identifies, responds to and supports the needs of the children and young people and their families within Moray.

To undertake Joint Investigative Interviews and support children and young people and their families in a trauma informed way.

Working jointly with children and their families across Moray to ensure that they are listened to and supported to identify and work through any challenges that they may be facing. Agreeing the supports that are of most helpful to them.

Working alongside our partners within multiagency frameworks to ensure that children and their families are offered a transparent and inclusive service that gets alongside families and supports them when they need it.

Responsibilities

To undertake all of the functions relating to Joint Investigative Interviews of children/young people.

To make sure children are protected from harm and to take the necessary steps to ensure a coordinated response when children are not safe.

To work directly with children, young people and their families to understand the challenges they are facing and help them to identify and overcome them.

To promote the wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

To undertake family informed risk and need based assessment work in a fast paced and high pressured environment.

To be part of a responsive and solution focused duty team who provide highly person centred rights based service to the children, young people and their families within Moray.

The Individual

Experience within child care/child protection setting.

Experience of risk assessment and risk management in a child care setting.

Experience of case management within a multi-agency environment.

A Degree/CQSW/Diploma in Social Work and SSSC Registration.

We will consider applications from Social Workers in Training in the final months of the Social Work Degree Course.

Knowledge of, and ability to work effectively within, relevant child care legislation and practice.

Good assessment and report writing skills.

Good communication and mediation skills.

Effective organisational and time management skills.

Ability to reflect on practice and engage in a purposeful and reflective supervision.

Excellent recording and record management skills.

Knowledge of the needs of children who have experienced trauma in their lives.

Ability to challenge practice appropriately.

Ability to contribute to service development.

Ability to work effectively with Area Team Social Workers and other agency staff.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

Effective communication skills; oral and written.

Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development.

Ability to deal with personal stress, and support carers in crisis.

Be reliable and consistent.

Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.

Willingness to accept direction/delegation yet work independently to meet the needs of children and their families.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Ability to work in an open plan/shared office.

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.
