Summary

Retail Store Assistant

Location: Earls Court, SW10 9LZ

Type: Temporary, with potential for temp-perm

Duration: 6 months (May to November 2024)

Hourly Pay Rate: £12-£14 per hour, plus bonus*
*Bonus will be paid on completion of 3 months (£150) and 6 months (£350) in post

Shift (Days): 5 days per week: Monday – Saturday*
*Day off in the week (excl. Monday and Saturday)

Hours: 8am to 6pm on weekdays; 8am to 2.30pm on Saturdays*
*Option for flexibility in shift pattern/hours

About the Role: Beyond Service to Sales Excellence

As the Retail Assistant in a flagship Royal Mail Parcelshop, your role transcends traditional customer service. Yes, you will provide stellar service, manage transactions, and ensure our products are showcased perfectly. But there’s more. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for upselling – guiding our customers towards products and services that not only meet their needs but enhance their satisfaction and our revenue.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service, setting the stage for upsell opportunities.
  • Engaging with customers to understand their needs, offering solutions that add value beyond their initial request.
  • Processing purchases and managing a variety of transactions, with an eye towards promoting additional products or services.
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of our products including new and seasonal offerings, to effectively suggest alternatives and add-ons.

About You: A Blend of Service and Sales Savvy

We’re searching for someone with exceptional interpersonal skills. Whilst a retail or sales background would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates who have not worked in retail before but have the confidence and aptitude to engage with customers, and deliver a memorable experience.

You Bring:

  • A proven track record in retail or proven experience working with customers from a customer services background or similar.
  • Experience or aptitude in sales preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor suggestions to individual customer needs, enhancing their experience and delivering real value.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach, taking pride in the quality of your work and its impact on company success.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, ready to shift gears between customer service and sales strategies as needed.
