Summary

• To manage the allocated team’s Receipts, Distribution, and Materials team function at University Hospital and/or Hospital of St Cross.
• To undertake all necessary administration functions associated with the supervising of the department.
• To manage the bulk store facility and ensure the timely delivery of goods to wards and allocated Team.
• To assist providing and monitoring an efficient and cost-effective materials management service to wards and departments within the Trust as part of the internal supply chain service.
• To also assist in providing an effective and efficient service with a strong emphasis on the quality of service.
• Actively contribute to the development of a dynamic receipts, distribution and materials management service to reflect the changing demands and priorities within the Trust.
• Provide a flexible working approach to meet the needs of the service.

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the Receipts and Distribution service for premises in and around the University Hospital site or at Hospital of St. Cross and delegate responsibilities as appropriate to the allocated team
• Act as first line manager for Receipts, Distribution and Materials management staff
• Manage the five-day week non-stock and stock (NHS Supply Chain) deliveries into the Trust site and their subsequent internal delivery to wards and departments
• Ensure wards and departments receive goods in a timely and accurate manner within agreed deadlines to facilitate the delivery of patient care.
• Ensure requests for emergency supply of clinical and non-clinical goods are responded to promptly and with diligence.
• Act as the primary contact for all enquiries regarding deliveries into the Trust (excluding deliveries relating to the PFI contract).

• Investigate and resolve supply problems related to orders placed for stock items via materials management
• Produce reports and analyse data relating to stock levels, purchasing activity, highlight purchasing trends and to achieve standardisation of products across the Trust
• Implement Departmental and Trust policies and procedures and make comments and suggestions that assist in the continual development and improvement of the Materials Management service
• Ensure that all Trust wide standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality of total care to all who come into contact with services provided by University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
• Comply with the principles of risk management including health and safety legislation, promoting high standards and acting immediately on hazards or unsafe practices in conjunction with other staff
• Participate in and conduct appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives.
