Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Psychologist or Accredited CBT therapist to join Berkshire Healthcare Birth in Mind. Birth in Mind is a specialist service providing assessment and treatment for adults with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to their birth experience and severe Fear of Birth (medically referred to as tokophobia). The post holder will work across Birth in Mind, with a focus on the Fear of Birth Pathway.

The role is based at Erlegh House on the University of Reading White Knights Campus. The location has plenty of car parking with electric car charging points, access to green spaces, local shops and access to the University of Reading gym.

We offer a blended model of delivery including face to face and online working from our well resourced clinic space or from home when appropriate.

As a valued member of our team, your role will combine both clinical and service development responsibilities and contribute to our networking strategy.

Primarily working with Fear of Birth, you will provide specialist assessments and interventions, including psychological birth care plans.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in service improvement projects such as groups, service user feedback forums, and designing our specialist resources. We have a strong belief in evidence -based practice and practice-based evidence, so you may also be able to undertake or supervise research, audit and service evaluation.

As part of your on-going development you will be able to contribute to the supervision and line-management of trainee and assistant psychologists, as appropriate.

You may also be involved in consultation, liaison and training to multidisciplinary mental health staff, perinatal mental health services, third-sector agencies and other, non-professional carers.

The “must haves” for you to be considered for this role: 
1. Holder of HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychology qualification OR Post graduate qualification in CBT and BABCP accreditation
1. Experience and a high level of enthusiasm and motivation for working with people with a fear of birth.
2. Skills in the delivery of evidence-based therapy, including CBT.
3. Specialist skills in treating people with a fear of birth and perinatal related psychological distress
4. Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
