Summary


If you are looking for a position within Surgery and have previous urology experience, then this post is for you!

We are seeking a highly motivatedHealth Care Assistants with enthusiasm to develop knowledge and experience of patients with Urological disease to join our team.

On our unit we offer support, both physically and mentally to all our patients from diagnosis, transitional from surgery and continually throughout their treatment plan. The acute setting can sometimes be very challenging but is very rewarding.

The Surgical Triage Unit is a fast paced working environment which gives staff the opportunity to use multiple transferable skills to provide the highest level of care to our patients. Working in the surgical triage department will give you lots of new experiences as we take patients from multiple specialities: general surgical, vascular, orthopaedics and urology.

The post will offer lots of additional training and personal and professional support will be provided throughout. If you have a interest and experience in urology then this exciting new opportunity to work on our friendly and dynamic unit is for you!

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

Due to the movement of services, the trust will ensure that all staff receive the appropriate additional training required and will receive specialist support from the urology nurses and clinicians.

You will support the nursing staff and provide excellent patient care whilst maintaining the trust values at every opportunity. Some of your duties will include
• Supporting patients with their activities of daily living
• Assist and support with personal hygiene needs whilst promoting independence
• Support preparing and escorting patients to theatre
• Timely clinical interventions: venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, collecting blood products, gathering equipment for nursing interventions, physiological observations
• Prepare and transfer patients to discharge lounge/destinations
• Prepare clinical area for new patients and support admissions
• Support bed moves within the clinical area, including using Patient Centre and other relevant clinical programmes
• Educate new staff on ward processes
• Actively support mandatory training; undertaking train the trainer
• Support the ward with maintaining patient safety, including meal times and enhanced observation at times
• Support individualised patient care; reviewing quality
