Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen with Springbank Ward at Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge. Are you wanting an exciting challenge? We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is flexible and organised to join our team as a Ward Housekeeper. We are an award winning Personality Disorder Service.

All general housekeeping duties will be required within a mental health inpatient environment. The successful candidate will work alongside the multidisciplinary team, comprising of Registered Nurses Occupational Therapy, Health Care Assistants, DBT team, Psychology and the Ward Manager. You will also be able to work independently to organise daily tasks and priorities, whilst upholding the trust values and behaviours.

As a ward housekeeper you can make a real difference to the patients experience in hospital by providing support and a friendly face to patients during their stay.

The post will may involve some evening and weekend shifts to meet the needs of the Service.

The ward housekeeper is a vital role within the inpatient ward setting, as well as being part of a wider team that ensure each patient has a good experience.

The role will involve:
• To support the ward team in the day to day running of the ward, together with specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the Ward Manager/Deputy Ward Manager, Nurse in Charge or Occupational Therapy
• To be responsible for general housekeeping duties within the ward
• To work closely with contractors and support services and monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies in liaison with the ward manager
• Completion of local based audits guided by the needs of the ward
• To help in the preparation of meals for the patinets and ensuirng the environment is clean and tidy meeting all infection pevention and control measures including food temerature recording.
• To help preapre snacks for the patients and help support the wards therapuetic programme.

1. To assist in the smooth running of the wards by promoting safe, clean, and healthy environments.

2. To ensure that all notice boards are both up to-date and tidy.

3. Responsibility for appropriate storage of all equipment and furnishings and keeping them in a good state of repair.

4. To be responsible for ensuring adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to meet service requirements and that all equipment within the department is clean and in good working order.

5. To ensure that the ward kitchen/kitchenette area is kept clean, tidy, and stocked and that fridge temperatures are monitored daily.

6. To maintain linen levels, ensuring adequate supply is available, tidy, and ready for use.

7. Supervising the delivery of food and reporting and recording dietary intakes.

8. Assisting in the ordering of patient’s meals as directed by nursing staff and assist nursing staff in mealtimes.

9. Supply support in non-clinical duties in relation to patient needs.

10. To maintain medical supplies, dry goods etc, to pre-determined levels, and general cleanliness of clinic rooms. To ensure that all equipment and supplies are within ‘use by’ date and used within date order.
