We have a vacancy for a warehouse operative in a fast moving perishable warehouse facility based in London Gatwick.

Together with the Nightshift Supervisor and another warehouse operative you will be responsible for all loading, unloading, and breaking of freight on the nightshift. This role involves considerable amounts of heavy lifting. Good health is a must. This is a physically demanding position best suited for young and fit individuals.

The position is a nightshift position, 4 nights on, 4 nights off, 19:00- 07:00. The duties include but are not limited to:

- the loading and unloading of import and export freight;

- the building of export freight;

- the breaking of import freight;

- the picking of distributions;

- stock takings;

- warehouse maintenance and cleaning duties in and around the warehouse;

The position is a permanent position. Permanent appointment is subject to a 3 months probationary period.

Forklift training will be provided.

A working knowledge of English is a requirement.

Considering the the high number of non-english speaking foreign delivery and collection drivers, the ability to communicate in other European languages other than English is placed at a premium, notably Spanish, Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, Bulagarian, Russian, French, or Turkish.

This is a high-security site and candidates are subject to stringent 5 year history / DBS checks. Security vetting takes on average 3-6 weeks. The successful candidate will not be allowed to commence work before successfully passing vetting. That means from the point of successful interview you cannot commence work before vetting is completed.
