Head of Undergraduate Medical Education (Wythenshawe)

MFT in partnership with the University of Manchester (UoM) delivers clinical training and experience to approximately 450 medical students attached to the Trust in clinical years 3, 4 and 5 of their undergraduate medical programme, who are based at the Wythenshawe campus.

The Head of Undergraduate Medical Education is responsible for the strategic implementation of the UoM’s medical undergraduate curriculum across Manchester University Foundation Trust Wythenshawe (Clinical Education Campus) and has overall responsibility for a team of administrative and support staff and Clinical Skills Tutors whose remit is to ensure a professional service to students and tutors.

You are someone who can lead and inspire a team and would relish the opportunity to work at a leading acute Trust that is also a teaching hospital.

You will enjoy working flexibly, being based at the Education Research Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital and will be happy to travel across placement sites as well as work from home as appropriate.

We are looking for an experienced senior manager to lead the Undergraduate Medical Education Team at the Wythenshawe Campus. Working closely with the Hospital Dean and the Undergraduate Medical Education team, you will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of Undergraduate Medical Education on the Wythenshawe Campus.

The role involves ensuring the delivery of all operational performance targets, including financial and statistical monitoring and quality assuring the delivery of the curriculum across all placements.

There is a requirement to support the continued development of high-quality learning opportunities within the Trust and its linked Clinical Education Providers (CEPs).

The post encompasses Trust-wide management responsibility for the delivery and evaluation of professional teaching activity. An increasing focus on statistical data analysis for quality monitoring and assurance, contracting and costing work is required.

You will have significant leadership, operational, budget and staff management experience, including successfully delivering workstreams to deadlines and within budget.

You will have excellent organisational skills and will relish networking and working with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust and at the University of Manchester.
