Morrison Water Services is currently looking to recruit Graduate Estimators to join our team and embark on an exciting career in the Water industry.
When you join as a Graduate Estimator, you will be responsible for supporting the collation and organisation of all tender documents and amendments with the Bid team. Assisting with the measurement of quantities for cost plan production, you’ll also help to produce cost plans and estimates for the bidding process.
But your work won’t stop there, you’ll also assist with the preparation of economic inflation. Reporting work on the production of subcontract enquiries, and help to analyse sub-contract and supplier return quotations to maximise our profit on projects. Supporting the Estimator with the completion of tender summaries, reports and the preparation of tender preliminaries. You will also attend settlement meetings and develop relationships with the supply chain. In addition, we will expect you to visit sites in order to gain a full appreciation of the scale, scope and risks associated the scheme to be tendered.
As a Graduate Estimator your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Learn how to quantify activities & materials using an industry standard method of measurement.
- You will gain a strong knowledge of materials & specialist subcontractors that operate within the water & civil engineering markets.
- The opportunity to develop & understand how to put construction programmes together.
- Learn and gain an understanding of different types of labour & equipment used in the delivery of construction works.
- Discover about the different types of temporary works used in construction works.
- Gain knowledge in the different construction techniques, for when just digging a hole is not the answer.
- Study and gain knowledge of the different types of ground conditions encountered during construction works, and how they influence build ability decisions.
Entry Requirements:
Civil Engineering, or a Commercial Management & Quantity Surveying degree.
Skills:
Do you have focus on quality and integrity in everything you do?
Have you the ability to communicate in different formats with a variety of stakeholders?
Do you enjoy working with numbers?
Do you have a strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving?
Are you a self-motivated and highly professional team player with a flexible, yet structured approach?
You will need Strong IT skills. Proficient in all MS Office applications
The start date of the graduate programme will be the first week of September 2024 and you must be available to start employment on this date to be considered for the programme.
