Summary


The TPD role involves working with postgraduate doctors in training and local educators to achieve the best outcomes for their postgraduate doctors in training. It does involve some teaching and pastoral work, but is largely about managing education, including recruitment, rotations, and assessment, working with other educators and staff in the GP School team.

This is an opportunity to work in the Sherwood Forest GP Training Programme on a fixed term contract for 2 years, available from 1 June 2024 (subject to completion of recruitment process). The programme is currently based at Kings Mill Hospital Nottingham. Please note there will be regular travel around the East Midlands. The programme day release is currently held on Tuesday and a Training Programme Director would be expected to be generally available on a Tuesday. Remuneration will be at GP00 – GP01 point of national GP educator pay scale, depending on experience.
• Working with teams to facilitate recruitment and induction of postgraduate doctors in training.
• Working with GP practices and other education providers to ensure that balanced and quality rotations are available to postgraduate doctors in training.
• Responsibility for organising the educational programme for postgraduate doctors in training including some face to face and virtual education delivery.
• Support for both postgraduate doctors in training and local educators to ensure any developments are well-communicated and issues addressed.
• Ensuring that all postgraduate doctors in training are assessed appropriately and that the ARCP processes are implemented
• Work with the senior educators and staff of the GP School to continue to be innovative and to develop the provision of education, both for GP postgraduate doctors in training and other learners working in primary care settings, including collaboration with the local Training Hub, Trusts, and other education providers.
