Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: c40352c7
The role involves working on a one to one basis, to help a gentleman with advanced Parkinsons Disease achieve his best quality of life and meet all personal care and health needs.
The successful candidate will join the rota of a small team of carers, which could include day-time and twilight shifts over a 7 day week. Hours can be agreed to allow some flexibility, however currently the role involves working half days Thursday to Sunday. If there is a preference for particular working hours please state this on your application. The role also asks the carer to engage, help and interact with the gentleman, allowing him to maintain an interest in community life, music, gardening, cooking and attending local social groups, thereby promoting his social. emotional and cognitive well-being.
The ideal candidate must have experience in 1:1 care, including all aspects of personal care, dressing, peg medication/food administration, meal preparation ie purifying foods and light domestic duties. The gentleman is a 'carer assisted wheelchair' user which requires experience with hoist transfers, moving and handling. Experience with administering medication via a PEG would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given, this procedure is required every 2 hours. Ability to drive the gentlemans manual wheelchair adapted vehicle is helpful, however applicants will need access to their own vehicle for travel to work, as the bus service in the area is very poor
