We have exciting opportunities for Feed Operations Technicians to join our new state of the art remote operations centre based in our offices in Fort Wiiliam. The upgraded WIFI and communication systems technology will allow us to feed our seawater farms remotely enabling us to optimise our feeding strategy. Each individual will be feeding two farms most likely a smolt farm (fish 100 grams to 2.5KG) and a grower farm (fish >2.5kg). The individual will be feeding the fish all the way through the cycle from smolt to harvest.

As this is a new role it will evolve as we work through the first year but we don’t foresee any major changes it will just be fine tuning working hours and site mix for feeding. The successful candidates will work a one week on/off shift pattern allowing for a great work-life balance.

About the job

The feeder/operations technician role is a crucial part of the operations process. We need our technicians to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of our feeding strategy. The job includes, but is not limited to:

  • Daily communication and planning with the Farm Manager
  • Remote feeding of our seawater sites
  • Ensuring that daily routines and tasks are carried out in accordance with the SOP’s
  • Monitoring and reporting of daily production data
  • Monitoring feeding patterns and reporting any deviations to Farm Manager

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience in the aquaculture industry with an understanding of feeding practices. They will be willing to expand their knowledge and work hard on the job.

  • Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided
  • Previous experience using feeding systems is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
