Duties:

• Line manage all staff employed including, Senior Social Work Practitioner, qualified Social Workers, Case Assessors and Support Workers, delegating an agreed amount of this to the Deputy Team manager/Senior Practitioner
• Prioritise the allocation of work and oversee workload management and performance of team members
• Work to the standards in the professional capabilities framework expected of a social work manager. Ensure the team members also work to the appropriate capabilities framework
• Advise on statutory responsibilities with a focus on the 2014 Care Act and knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other associated legislation
• Be responsible for advising and leading on safeguarding referrals within their team, allocating responsibilities to appropriate team members
• Manage and monitor expenditure from the Adult Social Care budget in relation to staffing budgets, and care commissioned and personal budgets arranged by staff
• Deal with comments, complaints and complements that are received by the team
• Ensure that all policies and procedures relevant to the service are available, and that staff work to them, including, health and safety, lone working etc
• Develop good working relationships with other statutory and voluntary/third sector partners, particularly the NHS
• Contribute to service developments at a strategic and operational level, including consultation with service users and carers where appropriate

Requirements of the Manager:

• Degree or equivalent in social work
• Significant frontline experience in Adults Services within the UK
• Willing to undertake a DBS check
• Management qualification or willingness to undertake and complete
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
• Registered with the HCPC
• Substantial proven post qualification experience of working in an adult social care setting
• Significant experience of complex adult protection enquiries, care planning and statutory reviews, relevant panels
• Significant experience of multi-agency work and integrative practice within children’s social work and/or specialist services
• Substantial experience of organising, attending and influencing multi-agency meetings
• Experience of delivering supervision
• Proven experience of performance management monitoring
• Experience of carrying out audits
• Experience of chairing meetings and representing adult social care
