We are recruiting an Automotive Exterior Design Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Automotive Exterior Design Engineer:
• Working with styling, project management, purchasing, test and manufacturing depart-ments to take exterior visibility parts from design concept to manufacture.
• Responsible for the development of exterior visibility parts primarily plastic injection mould-ing.
• Experience in exterior lighting, mirrors, wash and/or wiper systems would be advantageous but not essential.
• Evaluation and root cause analysis investigation of market concerns.
• Responsible for budget calculation and allocation of parts listed above.
• Part data, BOM release and management
• Travel is required to other client facilities, for build support and styling design reviews, as well as travelling to suppliers for part inspections and technical meetings.
• Actively participate in design reviews sharing their knowledge and experience.
• Development of exterior visibility parts to meet the design spec and styling intention.
• Design release of parts on time and on budget
• Supplier test plan and quality management to achieve design standards.
• Clear and concise reporting of concerns and part development/delivery issues
Qualifications & Experience for the Automotive Exterior Design Engineer:
• Experience in car industry is very welcome.
• Understanding and skill in mechanical engineering is expected.
• To organise and be confident with an ability to manage projects within set deadlines.
• Ability to multitask effectively within a team environment in managing priorities.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Strong presentation skills
• Valid driving license
Hours & Pay for the Automotive Exterior Design Engineer:
• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• £30.78p/h
