Summary
Clinical Psychologist - Autism Intensive Support Team - Band 8a. Applicants at Band 7 looking to seek perceptorship opportunity will also be considered.
Base: Coventry however as part of your role you will be required to travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This role also incorporates remote and agile working.
37.5 hours per week, part time also considered.
To support families at key times, some work may be required outside of usual office hours.
Your role will entail working directly with children, young people, adults and the people involved in their lives or care. Experience of working with both children and adults who have mental health needs and autism is essential.
The people referred to our service have complex needs, e.g., enduring behaviour which challenges, self-injurious, aggressive, or violent behaviour, or other risky presentations which could lead to harm to themselves or others. Understanding these needs, risks, and behaviours within the context of our service user’s lived experiences and their autism or neurodiversity is the foundation of our work. We use team formulations and a positive behaviour support framework to help us to do this. Wherever possible, we strive to develop tools and resources, such as personal profiles, to support an understanding of needs. All work is delivered using the principles of person centered practice. You will have a key role in these processes, along with specialist assessments, interventions, and evaluations, which will involve working to understand relationships within families and across environments and services. Experience of the clinical application and evaluation of PBS or similar proactive approaches would be advantageous.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust provides a full range of expanding physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults, and older adults over many sites across Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Autism Intensive Support Team works across Coventry and the whole of Warwickshire (north and south) to provide an additional layer of specialist ‘wrap around’ support to the existing teams involved in supporting children and adults who are most at risk of admission to Tier 4 hospital. We sit within the Learning Disability and Autism Directorate and as such we are part of a large multi-professional group which offers the opportunity for knowledge and skill sharing. There will be opportunities for Continual Professional Development, regular clinical supervision and training, and participation in ongoing research and development initiatives. Whilst we sit within this directorate, the people we support fall across directorates and services, allowing us to operate creatively with a wide range of needs and presentations. The team operates using a systemic framework and close liaison with our external partner agencies are essential. We strive to offer a timely and innovative service, and are proud to be able to offer opportunities for staff to have a direct impact on the ongoing development of the team.
As a team we work systemically to understand and support the significant impact and challenges experienced by people with autism and their families. To do this, we work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and work closely with commissioners and our mental health colleagues across services. As a Clinical Psychologist you will have experience of Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working as you will need to attend regular MDT’s, CETR’s and EMDT’s.
Other responsibilities include providing consultation within the MDT and externally, joint working with other agencies, participation and involvement in service development, research and business meetings and providing supervision (where appropriate) to other psychology staff or team members providing psychologically informed interventions.
