Join our dynamic MS Nursing team at UHCW and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Multiple Sclerosis, you will play a pivotal role in promoting best practices in the treatment and care of individuals with MS. Working within our dedicated MS Nursing team, you will provide training, advice, and education to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals. Your contributions will drive service improvements based on patient feedback, audit findings, and research evidence. Additionally, you will supervise and support colleagues within the MS Team and Neurosciences Day Unit.



**Interviews for this post are due to take place week commencing 29th April 2024**
• Independently performs routine patient assessments using objective measures where appropriate. Reviews data from these assessments and modifies the care plan in conjunction with the person with MS and the MS Team.
• Assess patients with acutely deteriorating symptoms and diagnoses relapse in routine circumstances, ensuring timely and appropriate treatment is offered.
• Assist in the delivery of disease-modifying therapy service. Monitoring adherence, efficacy, tolerability, and adverse effects within local and national guidelines.
• Request appropriate investigations, interpreting results and acting within agreed protocols.
• Assist in the delivery of nurse led clinics within UHCW and satellite sites within the community
• Offer advice to patients & carers using the telephone support service
• Advise patients and carers on managing symptoms, relapses and disease progression using a holistic approach.

Leadership and Management
• Plans and delivers care with minimal supervision, managing own diary and allocated caseload, whilst liaising with senior colleagues in complex situations
• Supports junior colleagues, co-ordinating duties / rotas / performance reviews / appraisals
• A knowledgeable team member who is developing their clinical expertise, with support from senior staff.

Education and Training
• Takes personal responsibility for lifelong learning & professional development as per NMC requirements.
• Attends specialist conferences (MS Trust), MS training courses and network meetings.
• Provides advice, support and education to other professionals involved in the care of patients with MS.

Research and Development
• Participates in data collection and recruitment from research projects and clinical trials in line with research protocols.
• Assists in data collection to provide evidence of productivity, outcomes and quality of the MS service.
• Contributes to service reviews, utilising feedback from patients, research evidence, audit and clinical requirements.
