Job Description
Summary
We are looking for 2 PAs to support our 11 year old daughter. She’s a funny and loving little girl who has a great sense of humour but is also very cheeky with it. We are looking for PAs to support our daughter on Saturdays for her to be able to go out and just enjoy herself with activities like the sea life centre, farms, parks, walks, arts and crafts, anything to keep her stimulated. During half terms and summer holidays we’re ideally looking for 25 hours for each PA and 14 hours for each PA on the Saturdays during school weeks. We’re looking for 2 PAs to go out with her each time due to lifting and care, ideally PAs who drive and are able to drive our daughter’s wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Our daughter has a metabolic condition of GA1, Glutaric Acidemia Type 1 with secondary severe dystonia and scoliosis. She is nonverbal and immobile. She is PEG fed and also uses the PEG for medications, water flushes and her emergency feed when needed if unwell. She uses Yes and No hands to communicate and is very consistent with it but also very cheeky with it .
She suffers severe dystonia so can be very strong when lifting, so manual handling is needed. Due to her dystonia, she can get body cramps for which she might need repositioning, massaging of the cramped area or paracetamol if needed, she also has Chloral Hydrate as her rescue plan for dystonia. She has scoliosis so leans to the side which can cause discomfort and give her a bit of pain in her hip.
Full training would be provided on our daughter’s needs.
