Summary

The Great Western Hospital is a medium sized district general hospital, conveniently located on the edge of Swindon. Recent significant investment has allowed expansion to meet the needs of our increasing local population with a new Integrated Front Door due to open later this year. We provide anaesthesia for a range of specialities including trauma and orthopaedics, general surgery, breast surgery, ophthalmics, ENT, urology, gynaecology, obstetrics and oral surgery. There are 15 theatres in the main theatre suite with a separate theatre in the oral surgery department and two theatres in the delivery suite.

There will be time in elective theatres with senior staff to support further training and development. We have a number of skilled regional anaesthetists and TIVA is also strongly encouraged.

We have a track record of supporting career development for SAS/LED doctors. Whilst the initial contract will be for one year, we are always looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to stay longer. We can support exam preparation and there are opportunities to get involved in research and audit within the department.

This post is suitable for appropriately experienced international doctors, as well as UK medical graduates who wish to take time out of the formal training programme, whilst still continuing to train and develop in a supportive environment.

Our STAR values are at the heart of everything we do. You can expect to see them in the way we act and the way we treat each other. Our values make us who we are. We will expect your values and behaviours to reflect the STAR Values of the organisation:

Service We will put our patients first

Teamwork We will work together

Ambition We will aspire to provide the best service

Respect We will act with integrity
