Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Team as a Medical Secretary within the Medicine Directorate. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join our busy administrative team to provide secretarial support to the Consultants and wider clinical teams based at Hexham General Hospital.

This post will be full time Monday to Friday.



• To provide a full secretarial service to the Medical Consultants and wider clinical Teams.
• The successful candidate will provide transcription, administrative and secretarial support service to the team. The post holder must be able to use own initiative, work under pressure, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of IT packages and their applications is essential. Support on the use of the G2 software package will be provided within the surgical directorate. ECDL and knowledge of PAS and previous experience of working within the healthcare environment would be desirable.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. • To provide general office support to the wider teams where necessary.
• To provide secretarial support to consultants and other team members including typing dictated correspondence and dealing with discharge summaries and related referrals to other healthcare professionals, receive communication and bring to attention of the relevant consultant.
• To deputise for more senior role providing office co-ordination and management when covering sickness absences and annual leave.
