Summary

The Trust includes St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, Newham University Hospital , Whipps Cross University Hospital and Mile End Hospital. A brand new hospital is being developed at the Whipps Cross site with Government investment, offering new and exciting opportunities for service development and delivery. We provide radiation safety support for all uses of ionising radiation in the Trust. The Barts and the Royal London sites have been built and equipped under a PFI and have a wide range of digital imaging equipment. The Barts Heart Centre, a new state of the art cardiac facility, has 10 cardiac angiography labs and 1 interventional theatre, with space for a further theatre. We also provide services to a specialist paediatric hospital and to other external clients.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of imaging modalities and areas of radiation protection support.
We have several band 7 posts available due to recent internal promotions. We are currently expanding the Radiation Safety team to provide closer MPE / RPA working with the clinical departments and being more integrated into the clinical teams.
You must be registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or be able to apply for registration within a year of appointment.
If you don’t have sufficient experience we will also consider appointing at Band 6. Candidates appointed to the Band 6 role will be given support and development opportunities to reach agreed competencies, level of knowledge and skills to be able to progress to the Band 7 post
The Radiation Safety Section is based at the Royal London Hospital. You will be expected to work on all Trust and client sites.

o support and assist with the management and provision of specialised diagnostic radiology physics support, radiation safety services, patient and personal dosimetry to the Trust and to other organisations who have contracts with Clinical Physics. The post holder will be expected to work on all Trust sites and to travel to sites where external contracts are held. The post will report to one of the designated site lead 8B/8C physicists
Would be expected to supervise some aspects of the Band 5 and Band 6 work. Would assist with supervision of clinical scientist trainees.
