Summary

Acorn by Synergie is excited to be recruiting an experienced Systems Engineer for a progressive engineering company that provides monitoring and measurement solutions for the marine and utilities industries on a worldwide scale.


Scope of the role:
Design Authority for the companies electrical and auxiliary systems. The role involves the installation, integration and testing of electronic control systems and offshore environmental monitoring instruments.



Main responsibilities include:
* Developing system architecture and electrical systems for new boats.
* Maintaining electrical system design configuration control.
* Locating and maintaining relationship with electrical component and system suppliers.
* Manufacture of boat electrical systems including the Payload, PC data logging and control system and power distribution management.
* Manufacture of cable assembles, Soldering, Crimping and mechanical assembly etc... to very high standard.
* Offshore environmental instruments as required by customer
* Communications equipment WIFI, Iridium and other types when required.
* Data logging systems.
* Programming payload PC Data logger software in C# VS2017.
* Programming Microcontrollers C, C++.
* Cable installation Routing, securing and termination to instruments and control systems.
* Offshore environmental measurement instruments.
* Control systems.
* Testing of the unmanned surface vessel control systems, data storage and Offshore environmental measurement instruments to ensure the vessel is ready for deployment.
* Collect and store data from various sources Emails, FTP, Storage devices including the unmanned surface vessel.
* Supporting data transmission in real time to the customers.
 Support in fixing problems encountered during operations.
 Data gathering from various sources and storage.
 Design and assembly of inhouse develop systems.


Knowledge, skills and experience required:
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Experience in
o Electrical system design
o Cable assembly, installation and termination.
o Setup and configuration of offshore environmental monitoring instruments (Can be learnt assisted with on job training).
o Setup and configuration of computer systems
 installation of software.
 Configure network for local communication over TCP/IP.
 Interface to instrumentation RS232, RS422, RS485, Ethernet and USB.
 Communications systems setup WIFI, Iridium, Ethernet etc.
o Programming targeting Microsoft windows platform and microcontrollers C#, C, C++.
* Degree level or higher in electronic engineering, IT or systems engineering
* Extensive experience of electrical system design and integration
* Integration of sensor systems to existing communication systems
* Experience of operating or working on small vessels is beneficial
