Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 permanent Band 6 positions (either full time or part time) within the Manchester Local Care Organisation to join the high risk team in South Manchester. We will consider part time or full time applicants We are looking seek to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated podiatrist to join our progressive podiatry team based in the community. The role will focus on the management of the complex patients with foot ulcers and include vascular assessment. There will also be an element of other clinics such as rapid access clinics, this service is integrated with the hospital diabetes and vascular team which the podiatrist support on a weekly and monthly basis
Care is delivered in various settings including community clinics, out-patient clinics and patient's homes so a car owner driver is essential. The post holder will contribute to on-going audit, service improvement and research projects.

Main duties of the job
To work in clinics, health centres, residential and nursing homes, day centres, in the patient's own home and on occasion in the acute sector
To actively manage patient treatment programmes in line with care planning and discharge guidelines
With the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed referral pathways
To assist in nail surgery and undertake a minimum of 20 procedures under supervision if not already proficient in this procedure
To participate in the specialist rotation placements in areas such as diabetes, patho-mechanics, vascular etc
To arrange for the provision of podiatry orthoses, pressure relieving insoles and shoe inserts where appropriate.
To be responsible for the day to day planning of personal workloads for clinics, for the completion of home visits and for visits to residential and nursing homes
To be flexible and provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence
Complete all necessary administrative duties associated with the post.
Any other duties as required by the department
