We are seeking for an enthusiastic and confident ADHD Nurse with a demonstrable track record of working within CAMHS, of providing high quality evidence-based interventions and service improvements.

The successful applicant will be joining a comprehensive and dynamic CAMHS service, located at Monks Park Health Centre, Wembley.

Your role will involve developing and delivering a wide range of interventions, projects and system changes with the aim of supporting children and young people with mental health issues or emotional disorders. In addition to providing comprehensive consultations, assessment, risk management and interventions for children and young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, the post-holder will also clinically supervise students/colleagues. Supervision training will be provided where required.





To provide a qualified specialist service to children and young people with mental health problems across all sectors of care as part of a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. They will utilise research skills for audit to support policy and service development; and undertake research within the area served by the service and of relevance to young people their families and carers.

The Post Holder will provide a core element of the service for children and adolescents with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He or she will play an active role in multi-disciplinary discussions and assessments.

The role will include the following:
• ADHD monitoring clinics- to monitor progress and medication
• Involvement in the ADHD assessment, the Information Sharing Groups for parents and children, the medication initiation groups and trial of medication review groups
• Advice to parents on behavioural management including challenging behaviours at home and sleep problems
• Support to parents and young people seeking help between clinic appointments or when in crisis
• Close liaison with schools in relation to children and adolescents progress at school and response to medication
• Close liaison with the ADHD Support Group and groups offering Parent Training.



The Brent CAMH service is based at Monks Park Clinic, Wembley. The team is well established and is staffed by a large multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using the whole range of therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, systemic and family Therapy, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Psychoeducation, DBT therapy groups and multi-family work as well as Positive Behaviour Support. Brent CAMHS consists of four main sub-teams: Emotional Disorders Team; Neurodevelopmental Team; Enhanced Treatment Team, and; Learning Disabilities (LD-CAMHS). The post holder may be required to travel to other parts of the catchment area and / or wider service and trust as necessary, including working within the community (e.g. schools). The service operates Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17:00 with some flexibility to work extended hours to meet service need.

1. To work closely with the Lead Consultant Psychiatrist for ADHD in organizing the structure of the ADHD
2. To provide ADHD monitoring clinics- to monitor progress and

6. To promote professional relationships with Paediatricians in the interest of children and adolescents with developmental or medical
7. To liaise effectively with schools in relation to children’s and adolescents’ progress at school and response to
8. To liaise closely with the ADHD Support Group (Independent Sector) and groups offering Parent
9. To assist with the evaluation of the ADHD service and interventions provided including the analysis of relevant
10. To be involved in consultation and training in the area of ADHD e.g. to teachers, trainees and medical

Clinical Responsibilities
1. To help organize and contribute to the assessment of children and adolescents when ADHD is suspected and to be participate in the psycho-education of parents, children and adolescent
2. To help organize and participate in all trials of medication and their evaluation
3. To weigh, measure and take the blood pressure and pulse of children and adolescents attending the monitoring
4. To keep up to date charts of growth and blood pressure
5. To assess any side effects of
6. To assess whether the children and adolescents are making progress and that their ADHD symptoms are largely under control i.e. that they are on the appropriate
7. To consult and link with a psychiatrist when problems with medication are identified e.g. ineffectiveness, growth problems or side effect problems and together decide on whether the Care Plan needs changing and, if so, how this will be
8. To advise parents on behaviour management and respond to requests for help or when there is a crisis between
9. To provide reports as appropriate to external agencies, ensuring that issues around confidentiality are managed
10. To Liaise and communicate effectively with the rest of the ADHD
11. To develop and carry out other nursing roles as required
Teaching, training and supervision:


1. To supervise and train other staff as appropriate including nursing staff, students and other agencies.
2. To contribute fully to the in-service training programme provided within the team and the Child and Adolescent Service. This will include the provision of teaching sessions to other members of the
3. To ensure that work is carried out using evidence based practice and that the Post Holder continues to develop skills and knowledge through regular training, reading and
4. To participate in the development, and implementation of policy and practice within the ADHD service.
5. To attend Team Meetings and training events as required.
6. To maintain accurate and up to date records relating to all work using the Trust information system
Research and service evaluation:
1. To participate in the evaluation, monitoring and development of the service’s operational policies and care pathways, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.
2. To utilize theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with
3. To undertake appropriate research and provide research advice to other staff undertaking research.
4. To initiate project management, including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within and across the service to help develop and improve services to clients and their
General:
1. To ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development
2. To maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self- governance in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.
