We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic ward clerks who like to contribute to effective patient care to join our team on Kingswood Ward at Basildon Hospital.

The ward clerk is expected to be an active team member and play an important role to ensure that patient assessment and treatment are received in a timely manner while working with the rest of the MDT.

You will be responsible for the clerical activities which support the efficient functioning of the ward. We have high standards of professional behaviour that you will be expected to maintain. Good communication and team working skills are essential to this position.

To carry out administrative and other mutually agreed duties to maintain the smooth running of the ward. While concentrating in greeting and welcoming all people that are entering the unit as front of house.

To answer the telephone correctly by adhering to the Trust’s telephone protocol and to understand and give messages received to the appropriate person i.e. Ward Manager or nurse in charge.

To maintain good communication and relationships with patients/carers, members of the MDT and nurses in consultation with Ward Manager.

To liaise with other wards and departments as required to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
