Summary

Eve is looking for a work rider/groom to come and join our successful Group 1 winning Flat yard on the Berkshire borders. They have a friendly team and a great bunch of horses for 2024 season. They are looking for experienced work riders, we would consider someone less experienced who rides well.

The right candidate must have a good work ethic and be able to turn out horses to a high standard. We can offer the successful applicant:

The apprenticeship provides a solid introduction to the racing industry, and also fulfills the criteria from the BHA to enable you to apply for a jockey licence. All training and learning will take place at Eve Johnson Houghton, within your paid working hours.
General yard duties including:-


Washing off
Grooming
Tacking up
Riding
Mucking outThis is a practical onsite based apprenticeship therefore not lots of time spent in a classroom. If you did not gain your Maths & English grades at school we can support you to gain these whilst on programme.
You have to be a UK resident or have lived in the EU for 3 years in order to apply for this role.
The interview will take place as a trial day on the yard.



Training
All training will be provided on
site during your paid working hours.
Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination
of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training
Trainer Coach.


Qualifications required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English
and maths is beneficial but not essential.
If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your
Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.


Skills required
Good work ethic is the most important thing - we do take on staff with only little experience.Ideally a Competant rider

Progression to L3 Racing Groom
Permanent employment is possible after the apprenticeship ends.

Duration 15 months
