Band 8A Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Are you an experienced Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) passionate about working in a diverse rewarding unscheduled care environment?

We are wishing to recruit Paediatric ACPs for our standalone St Charles Urgent Care Centre, Parsons Green Walk-In Centre and Soho Walk-in Centre which deliver high quality care for both adults and paediatrics.

We provide an educationally focused environment in which to grow and develop staff skills and knowledge, through work-based education, training, and mentorship. As a highly valued member of our team, the quality of care we provide starts with you.

This is an exciting time to join our Nurse Practitioner/ Advanced Clinical Practitioner led services. We are restructuring how we deliver high quality care to the Paediatric population. As a clinical lead you will support this journey in putting children at the forefront of our walk-in services.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous, experienced Paediatric ACP who enjoys teaching and working with practitioners to advance their skills in the assessment and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries for children.



The walk-in centres see’s both Paediatric & Adult patients. Part of the role will involve occasional cross-cover working. We ensure that all our practitioners work only within their scope of practice and will offer training and support for the Paediatric trained practitioner to feel empowered to work in an area which serves both children & adults.

St Charles Urgent Care Centre:

Sees on average 250 children a month over between the ages of 2-16 years. Xray facilities on site.

Parsons Green Walk-In Centre:

See children over the age of 12 years. The service is currently running a pilot which will expand the Paediatric services to children 2 years and over in early 2024. No Xray facilities.

Soho Walk-In Centre:

See children over the age of 12 years. The Walk-in centre has not resumed full services after its closure during the pandemic. This is an exciting time to join Soho Walk-in Centre as we re-establish the services and expand the age range to see children 2 years and over. No Xray facilities.

Job Title - Senior Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Clinical lead

Operational hours: 7 days per week, including bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The role is a clinical leadership role with the main duties of the job will include:
• Ensure the services are delivering high quality evidence-based care to patients attending with injuries and undifferentiated health problems. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner delivering care to our patients.
• Utilising expert diagnostic skills and clinical reasoning to provide autonomous, unscheduled care for paediatric patients presenting with acute undifferentiated conditions.
• The post holder will deliver care in collaboration with emergency services, other health care professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies.
• To work in association with colleagues in defining standards of care and practice aimed at maintaining, developing, or improving quality.
• To work with the senior staff in the operational management and the organisational development of the service.
• Act as the Shift Leader on a rotational basis assuming responsibility for day-to-day management of the service.
• Take designated responsibility for discrete areas of operational management/clinical practice.
• Communicate highly complex and sensitive information to patients, carers, and other staff.
• Deliver care within a culturally sensitive framework.
• Implement, carry out disseminate and evaluate service audits
