Summary


To assist with the compilation, production, and dissemination of the multi-disciplinary team patient list as appropriate. To obtain all relevant imaging and notes if required.

To provide secretarial and administrative support to the clinicians within the Mermaid Centre when requested, including word processing clinic letters, surgical referral letters, routine correspondence using audio typing and copy typing techniques. A high level of discretion must be always maintained particularly in view of the sensitive nature of the work undertaken.

To be responsible for the accurate typing of radiology reports and timely filing of reports in patient mammography packets. This may change following the introduction of digital dictation.

Attend and minute various meetings within the directorate when required.

To enter and file data for the High risk/Family History service using the FHQS system.

To oversee, update and provide training for the QMS system Q-pulse within the Mermaid Centre in conjunction with the Programme Manager and Deputy Office Supervisor.

To provide support for the office staff in the absence of the Programme Manager and Deputy Office Supervisor.

To provide a consistent and high standard of patient care whilst working under pressure

Work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

Work to a high standard whilst incurring frequent interruptions and to communicate important information efficiently and effectively to a wide range of staff.

Input data into complex programmes such as FHQS.

Oversee and organise the updating of protocols in Q pulse and provide training for new staff on how to use the programme. This will involve high levels of organisation skills and delegating work to staff.

Medical Report Transcription

Transcription of all directly dictated or recorded reports. This work demands high levels of confidentiality and accuracy.

Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, to produce accurate transcription to enable medical diagnosis.

Delegated responsibility to authorize and issue radiology reports to referring clinicians after transcription.

Communicating, mediating and exchanging information within all staff groups of the Mermaid Centre to ensure timely availability of results.
