Summary

A well-established transportation business who are a leader in their field are on the lookout for an experienced Indirect Category Manager to join their organisation.

Overview:
The primary focus of this role is to drive best value within the supply chain and ensure operation excellence for their operating companies as they collaborate and develop new partnerships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Targeting indirect spend this role will deliver service contracts which furnish us with the best service solutions and contractual position for the business ensuring compliance with all legal and business requirements.
An exciting time to join the business as its evolving, as they work towards commercial franchising of UK transportation networks.
As part of the Logistics department, you will work as part of a wider team supporting operating companies and managing supply chain partners.

Key responsibilities:
-Management & Leadership: Be a role model for your team – encourage, motivate and mentor contract and support teams to deliver exceptional service. Set targets and monitor personal and team performance to drive efficiency and business cost reduction.
-Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for indirect goods and services, considering TCO, driving cost savings, improving quality, and supplier performance through agreed KPIs & SLAs. Formal tender processes to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that align with organisational goals.
-Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead negotiations with indirect spend suppliers to secure favourable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements. Draft, review, and manage contracts for indirect sourcing, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
-Cost Management: Analyse market trends and conduct cost-benefit analysis to optimise procurement decisions. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and service levels.
-Supplier Relationship Management: Foster positive relationships with key suppliers and manage and improve ongoing supplier performance. Address and resolve any issues related to quality, service delivery, or contractual compliance.
-Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal departments to understand their indirect sourcing needs and requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
-Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting indirect sourcing. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis.
-Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to the indirect sourcing process.
-Continuous Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing processes. Evaluate and recommend enhancements to streamline procurement procedures.
-Supplier Diversity and Sustainability: Promote supplier diversity initiatives and sustainable sourcing practices. Evaluate and select suppliers with a commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

The Ideal Candidate:
- Strong people skills, ability to manage and develop a team.
- Excellent stakeholder managements skills, able to work cross functional with stakeholder at all levels.
- Cradle-to-grave Procurement experience including sourcing, negotiation, contract management, tendering.
- Proven track record within Indirect Procurement, including experience within the Logistics category.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Familiar with an e-procurement tool.
- CIPS qualified.
