37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: CORBY
Occupational Therapy assessments / rehabilitation at Corby. Supporting people to regain independence following a hospital admission/ deterioration in health.
Key Responsibilities


Carry out a comprehensive assessment of service users including those with complex needs to promote and maintain maximum independence in accordance with the Directorate’s statutory duty.
Carry a full caseload in accordance with level of experience.
Liaise with, and offer professional advice to other professions as in Health, Social Services and voluntary sector, etc. in relation to the provision of occupational therapy services to service users.
Provide advice and instruction on appropriate equipment and ensure its safe use by all those involved, e.g., service user, family, carers.
Liaise with other directorates/agencies/contractors with regard to making recommendations for major structural adaptations.
Make recommendations on re-housing where adaptations are inappropriate.
Provide advice and support to the service user and their family or carers.
Keep accurate and up to date records in accordance with Directorate policy and procedures, compiling reports and statistical data as required.
Participate in initiatives around quality issues within the Directorate.

Qualifications:


Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification such as a Degree in Occupational Therapy or a Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
Current HCPC registration.

Knowledge:


Have a good working knowledge of legislation, and policy surrounding disability, housing, building adaptation funding, direct payments and personal budgets.
Knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements.





Experience:


Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of resolving moving and handling needs.
Experience of working within an NHS or Adult Social Care setting in a reablement and/or rehabilitation role.
Experience of multi-agency working and of working in partnership with other agencies.

Skills & Abilities:


Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Well developed interpersonal skills.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
Good organisational skills.
Ability to work as part of a team, and the confidence to work alone
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to carry out assessments on service users, to identify needs and to create support plans.
