Job overview
We are in search of an experienced Purchasing Consultant to oversee our company's procurement operations in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The role involves crafting purchasing strategies, fostering positive relationships with suppliers, collaborating with internal teams on their supply requirements, and supervising the daily activities of the purchasing team.
To excel as a Purchasing Consultant, you must demonstrate proficiency in managing and optimising purchasing activities and processes. A successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills and the ability to negotiate advantageous deals with suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct strategic assessments to analyse the organisation's operational needs, identifying and sourcing the optimal goods, services, and equipment through comprehensive market research;
- Develop purchasing policies, determines the necessity for tendering orders, and assesses bids from suppliers;
- Engage in price and contract negotiations with suppliers and prepares contractual documents aligning with the company's budgetary constraints and quality standards;
- Attend trade fairs, shows, and demonstrations to explore new product lines, assess potential suppliers;
- Ensure adherence to orders by verifying delivered items, monitor incoming goods' quality, and oversees performance to ensure targets are achieved;
- Research and identify emerging products with potential suppliers by assess the viability of new products and evaluates the capabilities and reliability;
- Keeps current with and ensures compliance with pertinent legislation concerning tendering and procurement processes.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge
- Degree in business administration or a related field;
- Knowledge of industry market in APAC region;
- Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position eg project manager;
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management;
- Supervisory and management experience;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills;
- Strong planning and organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Fluency both in verbal and written communications in Mandarin is an advantage.
