Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant Practitioner (Band 3) within the Blood Sciences Endocrine Laboratory.

The position provides an ideal opportunity to gain experience of working in a diagnostic laboratory, working alongside HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists in providing an analytical service. We are looking for someone that has laboratory experience and is keen to learn and willing to contribute to our department. Full training will be provided.

The Endocrine Lab, performs investigations into diabetic care management, gut disorders, tumour markers, and a variety of endocrine abnormalities. You would also be working alongside the Trisomy Screening Team which performs investigations to detect a variety of foetal conditions using results from biochemical markers in maternal serum and other factors.

This is a substantive post.

Performs a range of routine and non-routine laboratory healthcare science activities under supervision,e.g.performs standard biochemical tests.

Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out.

To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.

The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
