Job Title: Procurement Manager - Chilled Food Industry

Location: Commutable to one of our UK Manufacturing sites (with travel across the UK and some international travel as required -
driving licence required)

buying, focusing on the protein/meat category, one of our largest spends.

Position Overview: As a Procurement Manager, you will assume a leadership role within the procurement team, reporting directly to
the Procurement Director and deputising in their absence. This is an opportunity for a strategic thinker with a background in
meat/poultry/chilled food buying, particularly in meat/fish/poultry buying for retail to drive optimisation of expenditure,
enhance supplier performance, and contribute to the development of our category strategies.




Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage the procurement function for meat, providing coaching and guidance to colleagues
* Develop and implement category strategies to optimise Group expenditure and improve profitability.
* Source materials and select suppliers, ensuring alignment with Assurance of Supply, Quality, Service, Cost, and Innovation
requirements.
* Manage supplier performance against agreed measures, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Partner with stakeholder groups to ensure optimal supply base performance and alignment with business objectives.
* Identify and exploit commercial opportunities through skilled negotiation and supplier relationship management.
* Lead and manage projects within allocated categories, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
* Ensure compliance with procurement processes and legal requirements, including contract management and risk mitigation.
* Provide business forecasts and deliver financial targets in line with budgetary constraints.

Requirements:

* 3-4 years of experience in a Procurement Manager role, within the UK food industry.
* Background in chilled food buying, with a focus on meat procurement.
* Demonstrated leadership and line management experience, with strong coaching skills.
* Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and implement category strategies.
* Experience working with retail and understanding market dynamics.
* Resilient individual with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* CIPS qualification.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
* Analytical, organisational, and reporting skills
* Sound Understanding of contract law and procurement processes.
