About me:
I am a 14-year-old autistic boy with some verbal communication, but I have very good understanding. I live with my family and my dog Meg in Melbourn SG8, just outside of Cambridge. I would like support to have fun times doing community activities. I like to watch Cambridge United play, and I am a season ticket holder, I enjoy swimming, going on and watching trains and enjoy food (a little too much at times). I enjoy going to the cinema, I like Pixar films and my favourite is Toy Story. I dont like the Harry Potter films but I do enjoy the Fantastic Beasts series and Jurassic Park. I am a keen YouTuber; I like train videos and I love ASMR videos. My mum says that I tend to engage with people better outside of my immediate family.
Hours and Rate of Pay:
58 @ £11.50 an hour Im hoping for up to 4-hour sessions each time, but also a whole day out (with mileage paid) would be good, and hours can be discussed and agreed and used flexibly. Includes 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave (pro rata) A checkable driving record and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
What you Would be Doing:
The sessions with my worker would provide me with support away from my family having fun. Supporting me to have fun times out of the family home, taking part in activities which I enjoy and suggesting new activities to me. I do need a little extra support when accessing the toilet, and a reminder to wash my hands this is minimal personal care.
The Person I Would Like:
You should be patient, friendly and kind with some experience of supporting young people in the community either through employment or through supporting friends or family members. You should car owner car driver with a checkable driving record (mileage will be paid) and have an Enhanced DBS check in place or be willing to obtain one. Someone that is cheerful, flexible, punctual and willing to be interactive, as you will be encouraging in order to improve and develop my skills. We have Meg our family dog who is a West Highland White Terrier, she is friendly and loves attention so you should be prepared to give her some attention when you visit my home, my parents will ensure she is kept on a lead when you visit. It would be nice if you are happy around dogs. This is a very rewarding job with the opportunity to build up your own experience.
