Summary


NLAG are looking to recruit Senior healthcare assistants across the medicine division based at Scunthorpe general hospital and Diana Princess of Wales hospital.

The Medicine division is made up of;

17 medical wards, 8 at Scunthorpe and 9 at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital covering a range of medical specialties

2 Emergency Departments

2 Day treatment units

Within medicine we strive to ensure our patients receive the best possible care and treatment and as a health care assistant you will be vital in ensuring this is achieved. You will have the opportunity to work alongside members of the multi-disciplinary team and you will be at the forefront of delivering patient care.

We are proud of the work done within the division to deliver outstanding patient care, one of our wards at Scunthorpe and two at Grimsby have achieved a rating of outstanding in our 15 steps challenge reviews, while 6 wards at Scunthorpe and 5 wards at Grimsby have achieved a rating of good.

To help develop knowledge skills and experience you may also have the opportunity to work across several wards within the Division.

We will provide training and support to help you achieve our aim of ensuring patients receive the best possible care and treatment. All successful applicants will attend the NLAG care camp and receive a period of supernumerary. You will be given access to our ESR learning portal to enable you to book and complete mandatory training. You will also have access to our online clinical skills portal to further enhance your skills and knowledge

You will be supported by our practice development team. We have HCSW’s trained in the HCSW buddy system who will be able to provide one to one support within your area of work to help you settle in and feel part of the team.

Main duties of the job
• To maintain the highest possible standards of compassionate and professional patient centred care with particular attention to privacy and dignity.
• Assist patients with personal care, hygiene and sanitary needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
• Assist in meeting patients’ nutritional needs, including non-oral nutritional and fluid intake. Ensure that patients who require assistance at mealtimes have an appropriately coloured tray to identify they need help and are assisted with eating and drinking.
• Where identified in the plan of care, ensure that food and fluid intake and output are accurately documented on appropriate patient charts
