Summary

Then our Research & Development (R&D) Department needs you! CLCH R&D Department are in the process of expanding its research delivery team and seek a highly motivated Senior Research Nurse or Senior Clinical Research Practitioner to drive forward our research portfolio. This post is integral in the Trust’s R&D strategy to become a leader in community research, drive innovation, enhance patient care and maximise opportunities for our patients and staff to participate in high quality research.

Willingness to travel to different sites is important. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in clinical research, knowledge of good clinical practice and the regulatory research landscape, excellent communication skills & experience of managing/leading teams within the NHS setting. The post holder will lead a team of Research Nurses and Clinical Research Practitioners to deliver to a portfolio of commercial trials, academic clinical trials and NIHR portfolio studies. The post holder with form part of the department leadership team delivering high quality health and care community-based research.

The aim of the role of the Band 7 Senior Research Nurse /Clinical Research Practitioner is to support the implementation of the Research Strategy and develop the CLCH studies portfolio across the Trust by identifying commercial and non-commercial studies on the NIHR portfolio. A core component of this post is to support Head of R&D in the implementation of the Research Strategy 2024-2027 within the Trust. The post holder will work across all clinical divisions of the Trust, in a variety of areas dependent on demand

The post holder will be responsible for:


• line management of members of the research delivery team
• Identify eligible research studies available, suitable for NHS Community Trust services.
• Management of consent and recruitment by the R&D team to meet time to target into studies
• To manage the feasibility, set-up and delivery of studies against NIHR and CLCH metrics through continued growth of research activity, increasing the number of research studies and participant recruitment each year
• Liaise with clinicians with the aim of developing capacity and capability to undertake the role of Chief or Principal Investigator.
• Submit expressions of interest to companies and non-commercial sponsors in collaboration with clinical teams for prospective studies
• Support in building capacity and capability for research, through the development of a sustainable and diverse portfolio across the Trust and clinical teams.
• Work closely with the Head of R&D and the wider Academy team to identify and promote research opportunities and initiatives.
• Assessing patients’ suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained (recognising the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act), coordinating the logistics for patient visits and undertaking patient assessments (where appropriate and within professional guidelines) in accordance with study protocol.
• Ensure all data will be recorded, including adverse and serious adverse events, in accordance with ICH-GCP.
• Ensure that all research safeguards the psychological and physical well-being of the patient/participant in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to facilitate high standards of care.
