Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist - Richmond

We are looking for Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join our innovative and successful Paediatric Therapies Team in Richmond. The Richmond-upon-Thames Local Area SEND inspection report (October 2023) commented positively on our team’s work:

‘Therapists provide timely assessments and innovative approaches to make sure
that those caring for or working with children and young people with SEND receive the support and guidance they need.’

Richmond is a great place to live and work and has been named as the “happiest place to live” in Great Britain (Rightmove’s “Happy at Home” Index, 2023).

We are a well-established, integrated and supportive team. All therapists have regular individual and peer group supervision, access to specialist outreach, and internal and external training. We welcome applications for full and part-time work, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop your clinical interests. Here’s what some of our current therapists like about working in our team:

“This team is by far the most supportive I have worked in”.

“The management have been very proactive with helping me find and develop a specialism”.

“It’s very easy to access supervision, outreach and advice by specialists and everyone is actively keen to help”.

“We have a big band 6 team so there’s a lot of peer support”.

We welcome applicants with experience in working with children/young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs in early years, mainstream schools and special schools.

Our therapists also develop their skills by taking on responsibilities outside of direct caseload work to support the service – such as training, resource development, service design, audit and outreach.

Community healthcare is unlike any other part of the NHS. It’s personalised care that helps people to retain their independence. It’s the NHS at its best and the difference you make is truly tangible. Our colleagues often describe us as a family, and we know how important that sense of belonging and support is when you start a new job. It’s simple - happy, engaged staff provide better services.

In 2018, we were named ‘Best Place to Work for Employee Satisfaction’ by the Nursing Times. The same year, we won the Workforce category at the HSJ Awards. In the latest NHS Staff Survey results 2020, we had the best response rate amongst community trusts nationally.

We are the top community trust in the country on the theme Quality of care for the third year. We had the highest percentage of staff who felt they are able to deliver the care they aspire to and are satisfied with the quality of care they give to patients or service users.

Infection Control

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID19.
