Summary
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our well established Early Intervention in Psychosis Team in Doncaster. The successful candidate will become a leading member of this multi-disciplinary team providing Consultant input. The Consultant will have a flexible time table designed to respond to the needs of the patients and carers as well as the needs of the team members for support and advice.
The Trust recently underwent a major restructure into 13 Trust wide Directorates served within 5 Care Groups, with acute and community pathways. This created a multi professional leadership structure which serves the Trust through service matrons, service managers, clinical leaders and care group directors and deputies.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT and be approved/eligible for approval for Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status. They should have evidence of good communication skills and a commitment to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
There will be opportunities for strategic leadership development by working with the Care Group's Medical Director and other leads in the development of the Services within the Trust.
Main Duties will include:
• Clinical Leadership to the Early Intervention Team.
• Discussing patients in the MDT meeting and with keyworkers on an individual basis.
• Assessing patients with complex mental health issues and first episode psychosis on site, or on home visits.
• Initiating medication and contributing to patients’ management and treatment plans.
• Quality improvement of the service – audit and service development projects.
• Clinical Supervision of the Speciality doctor who is based with the Early Intervention team.
• Clinical Supervision of the Foundation Year 2 doctor based with the Early Intervention team.
• Teaching – providing teaching sessions to the Early Intervention team on relevant clinical topic.
• Teaching junior doctors assigned to the team.
• Play a leading role in Business/Management Meetings for the team.
• The post holder will take the medical lead in service development and the implementation of any changes to practice as required in line with evolving evidence and tailored to meet local need.
