Summary


Come and work for NELFT’s crisis resolution enhanced support team and be part of one of the UK’s most innovative healthcare Trusts.

CREST involves risk assessment and management of young people experiencing acute mental health crisis in both community and A&E settings.

As the Crisis Team team leader you will be leading our skilled clinicians and senior support worker to ensure they are working in line with trust and professional standards. You will work closely and collaboratively with the integrated crisis team manager, other professionals working within NELFT, KCC, acute trust colleagues, the provider collaborative and Kent Police. You will offer clinical supervision to the team, offer guidance to the team where necessary, attend and represent the team in professional and MDT meetings, duties and responsibilities within the Health Based Place of Safety and develop new pathways and processes to support the delivery of our home treatment and A&E liaison service models with the team manager.

CREST work intensively with children and young people experiencing acute mental health difficulties who would otherwise require hospital admission. The team operate a 24 hour crisis response and paediatric liaison service across Kent and Medway providing support and advice to patients and carers, as well as receiving referrals for advice and assessment from key partners in care, including the police, Ambulance Service, Single Point of Access and acute trusts. The service also offers a 24 hour gatekeeping function for all admissions requiring a mental health bed.

This post is suitable for registered nurses / social workers, with the relevant experience in mental health crisis services or an acute or community mental health setting. You should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be able to make autonomous clinical decisions with the best interests of a child or young person and family at heart.



Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

• To provide an efficient, effective, comprehensive and specialist crisis team experience for children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families.
• To contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents and families
• To provide supervision and consultation on crisis cases to other multi-disciplinary staff within CYPMHS/YPWS, including junior medical staff.
• To contribute to audit and research.
• To actively engage in treatment and outcome monitoring, including the use of normed measures associated with CYP-IAPT.
