An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit enthusiastic doctors to join our trust.
Please note this is a local appointment on local Terms and Conditions and not a training post.
You will be supervised by senior colleagues, and you will have the opportunity to attend teaching sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills, access to an electronic portfolio and the potential opportunity to participate in Quality Improvement Projects.
The Trust is strongly placed to provide outreach and community-based clinics, all of which are supported by a dedicated team of clinical staff and senior managers. The Trust recognises the importance of working in the community, providing patients with the choice to access services in a setting that may be more amenable or comfortable for them.
The Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Queens Hospital Burton work in partnership with Leicester Medical School, Health Education England in West Midlandsand Health Education England to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care.
The National salary scale for Doctors and Dentists in Training (2016) will apply.
Please note that applicants must hold FULL GMC registration with a licence to practice at time of application in order to be considered for this post.
We are looking for full time doctors to cover Foundation Year 1 vacancies based at Queens Hospital Burton. This is a fixed term contract to commence on the 3rd July 2024 until the 2nd July 2025 and will optimise your clinical 4 experience and enable you to gain relevant clinical competencies. The successful candidate must be in post by 10th July 2024.

Although this is a service appointment, all FY1 doctors will have the opportunity to participate in the foundation training programme run by the hospital and you would be fully supported should you wish to complete the same competences as our F1s in training posts. You will be assigned an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for the length of the post. Regular assessments will follow the model laid down in the National Curriculum for the Foundation Years in Postgraduate Education and Training.
CLINICAL WORK
Participate in the day-to-day provision of routine and emergency medical care to a level appropriate to the Foundation Year 1 under the supervision of a senior member of the department.
The successful candidate will liaise with nursing, medical and Para-medical staff to ensure smooth running of the service and will be expected to keep senior colleagues informed and seek advice as and when necessary.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
An active educational programme is operated in the Medical Educational Centre and within the various departments.
The Trust runs Junior Doctors’ Presentations and all FY1s are encouraged to take part in this.
INDUCTION
A comprehensive hospital induction takes place and departmental induction for the FY1s, takes place at the start of each four month rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will undertake to perform exceptionally, additional duties on occasion of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, for which time off in lieu will be granted.
You are required to observe all Trust Policies and Procedure in operation within the Hospital in respect of Health of Safety, personnel practices and clinical service.
